Cashing Out

So this weekend I decided to get a little crazy. Try a poker room that is different from my normal PartyPoker or local Indian casino. I went with Pokerstars and boy am I glad I did. There are more fish on here than there are in the sea! Within hours I turned $60 into over $500, and Pokerstars doesn’t even have an affiliate program. So I cashed out $350 and using the rest to build even more cash. I choose “get a check” and they say it will take 15days, I’ll keep you posted!

Finally, I was playing over at FULLTILT Poker Room today and Erik Seidel was sitting at our table. We chatted a little bit and he fielded some questions. The funny question I asked him was, “Have you heard the Erik Seidel Song?” Apparently a no name band made a song about Erik Seidel but allegedly not thee Erik Seidel but rather one of their friends. He acknowledged he had heard it and admitted it was a funny coincidence. Overall his performance in a 3/6 game was ultra conservative and was similar to most good low-limit players.

Pump or Dump?

Do you find yourself having trouble with no-limit? Here’s some very simple advice:

Pump it or dump it. Unless you have “the nuts” and want to suck players in, you should rarely just call another player’s bet. When another player bets, you should either raise (pump it) or fold (dump it).

Today in the Paradise Poker Freeroll Final for a seat at the WPT I finished at the final table. Not bad considering 4,000 to qualify to get to the main tournament and another 3990 to get to the final table, I did alright. Going out with pocket 5’s vs. pocket 8’s and a runner runner flush came to make my five high flush and his eight high. I’ll see you at the PokerStars.net & Zerorake Freeroll a 6PM PST!

Online Cheating

As online poker players we always need to be on our watch for cheating and cheaters. Cheaters meaning multiple, a team of cheats set to take your bankroll. They utilize instant messaging systems, cell phones and all sorts of communication devices. Watch out for them! Today we added a new article about how they work in their teams. Use this information wisely to quickly learn who is cheating.

Every so often a discussion arises or some evidence surfaces of online cheating. Usually there’s a large debate followed by a calming. This picture was submitted by a user earlier today. Do you think it’s real?

The user who chooses to remain anonymous claims its features include being able to see ‘all’ board cards. It also includes ,a basic feature to launch your instant messaging program. They didn’t say anything about the “stealth mode”. They also made it very clear that neither they nor their friend authored the program but came across it in a chat room. They also insist that it was only used in a play money room. The part that is funny to me is that it says V2, with these limited options I wonder what V1 was — a program to load your AIM? If you have any more information on this program e-mail us or partypoker.

Partypoker didn’t comment on the existence of the program but I know they recently upgraded their software to detect when certain “pokerbot” programs were running in the background. In addition Partypoker like most poker rooms uses SSL encryption which would make this a far fetched idea.

I disagree that using 3rd party programs like Texas Calculatem is cheating however, because at a physical casino you can carry an odds/hands card. Its basically the same thing, just easier and faster to use.

Finally, in this day of spyware,adware, and viruses — it’s important to remember NOT TO DOWNLOAD any programs promising online cheating in the first place.

New Poker Room :: ZeroRake

Zerorake — In a slew of seemingly unlimited growth in the world of Internet Poker outcomes a new site. This one with an interesting twist, no rake! How can they do it? By paying a nominal monthly fee you are exempt from paying a rake. This saves you a lot of money depending on how much you play. My first thoughts were admittedly skeptical but, being one of the first people to register for this site I got a free glimpse into the inner workings of the site.

Registering for a $50 FreeRoll I found myself immersed in the interesting world of rake free play. Now this is a concept that could catch on! My biggest problem with this site is that it lists no gaming license or certification. However, their support was quick to answer questions and solve problems. Interesting that I found their lack of license to be no problem as I accepted their free money in the FreeRoll. Heck, what really is a license from the island of Motamba good for anyhow?

The Freeroll Tournament: (everyday at 9PM EDT for promotional purposes)

Pre Tournament:

I registered around 6PM, the tournament set to begin in 20minutes. I waited patiently as 6people registered in seconds and then 1 unregistered and then another. As time goes on people continue to unregister and register at other rooms for the minimum of 3 players so everyone wins a cash prize. This is great; we are all going to win! 28 Total players are now registered and online with Zerorake. At this time (2) total people are playing in real money games — props, perhaps. But when I’m guaranteed at least $10 I can’t complain, I’ll play around with props using $10 of their own dollars.

Real Tournament:

The tournament start’s with a friendly hello from my (3) other players and onto business. Using a nice new poker client, our first hands were dealt. My pocket 6’s lose the first hand. 6Uldv8 a player at my table stated, “I’ve been playing here since the first day, and haven’t had any problems.” and added, “I’ve saved a bunch on the rake”. Well the game went on and my hands weren’t coming. I was distracted by my Omaha game on Pokerstars and usually I wouldn’t be playing Omaha but it was the Friday online game with some pals from work and I was kicking some ass! Back to Hold’em, I made the stupidest move of my poker career — chasing an ace high flush and am seriously low on chips. I make my final move going all in with a pair of aces and sixes; the other player turns his nine for aces and nines. I’m officially the first player out at ZeroRake poker table #1004. Winning $10 for my valiant effort and to the cash tables I went, in a hurry to use my new winnings to win others newly found free cash.

FreeRoll Junkie

I admit it — I’m a junkie. A FreeRoll junkie that is! I can’t keep away from these exciting tournaments. For me, its the challenge of beating 4,000 people only for a chance to beat another 600 people to get a free trip to the Belliago. Although I’ve only been the champion of one FreeRoll tournament for a trip on Gaming Club Poker I still continue to play these FreeRolls.

Here’s my FreeRoll schedule: I get home from work around 4PM (Making sure to early register for Paradise Poker’s WPT Legend’s Freeroll which starts at 4PM PST) Then I head straight to Pokerstars.net for their 6PM Stud & Hold’em Free roll’s. Followed by an 8PM WPT Legend on Paradise Poker again, and a $200 FreeRoll on Spin Palace Poker.

So I’m addicted to FreeRoll, so what? Usually after I’m done with the free roll’s I go on partypoker and play a $100 sit & go tournament. And the refreshing part, I usually win it. Why? My guess, I spent the last 5hours playing in tournaments for free, now I’m ready for a real game. I’m 5/5 this week on the $100 Sit’n’go and I’ll see you there tonight nickname ‘egthareal’. So today on PartyPoker.com I was playing in a $50+$5 tournament when this guy went all in with pocket jacks vs. my pocket aces (boy was I happy). So ended up winning the tournament for $500, pretty darn good tournament day.
