Be a Woman

On most sites, you can put up some sort of avatar of yourself that would indicate your gender. If you portray yourself as a woman, people will be more surprised when you play well. You can also use this to your advantage by flirting with other players on the table. If, for instance, you have a particularly chesty avatar, you can get a lot of guys to comment on that really quickly. If they are focused on your fake boobs, they won’t be focused on the game. That’s just a quick way to develop a tall chip stack.
If you can’t choose a female avatar, at least pick a name that will indicate your sex. Something like “sexypair” or “i_own_the_boys” would suggest that you’re a woman. Select a name accordingly.

Be a Donkey

If you portray yourself as an absolute idiot online, you will get a lot of people who think they can take advantage of you. Ask stupid questions in chats and make the occasional dumb call just so people think you’re stupid. Then wow them when you make amazing play after amazing play, defying their image of you in their mind. The element of surprise is often the key to poker success online.

Be an Ass

Indeed, acting like Hellmuth every once and awhile does pay off. If you can make yourself look like an absolute jerk, you can get a lot of people angry on your table. Angry people usually make bad calls and tilt pretty easily, so getting them hot under the collar can also get them to hand their chips over, in essence. As long as you don’t get genuinely angry along the way, you should be good to go.
