I'm going to give you a very serious answer. Texas Hold'em, like any other skill is something that cannot be defined in a few sentences or a Yahoo! Answer. If it were that simple I'd be winning the next WPT event instead of sitting here answering questions.
The only secret, like with most things is hard work, study and practice. You need to play a lot, discuss your play with good players, study the books, and get in the hours at the table (virtual or real). There are a handful of people on this Earth with a natural talent for the game, and these people just 'get it.' But for everyone else it is a grind. But with enough effort you can become a good and profitable player. You may never win the WSOP, but then a good golfer will probably never beat Tiger Woods either.
